How do I get to Highland Glamping from Paro Airport?

Paro International Airport is the only international airport in Bhutan. The resort is approximately 20–35 minutes by car from the airport. We can arrange private airport transfers on request — please let us know your flight details when booking.

Do you offer airport transfer services?

Yes, we can arrange private car transfers to and from Paro International Airport. Please include your flight details in your booking enquiry and we will coordinate everything for you.

Is there parking available at the resort?

Yes, secure on-site parking is available for guests who are self-driving or arriving by private vehicle.

What is the difference between Riverfront and Hilltop Domes?

Riverfront and Hilltop are two completely separate locations in Paro, not two wings of one property. Our 13 Riverfront domes (Deluxe Dome, 41m², and Superior Deluxe Dome, 51m²) sit at Kepdinkha, beside the Paro river. Our 2 exclusive Hilltop Deluxe domes (51m²) sit at Zachakha, 2km from Paro town, with a front-row view of Paro International Airport and panoramic views of the entire valley.

How many guests can stay per dome?

Each dome accommodates a maximum of 2 adults. Children aged 6 and under are not counted toward occupancy. An extra bed may be available in Riverfront Domes on request. Travelling as a larger group? Book multiple domes.

Are the domes air-conditioned / heated?

Yes, each dome is equipped with climate control to ensure comfort across all seasons. Bhutan's high-altitude climate means temperatures can be cool even in summer — we ensure each dome is warm and comfortable throughout your stay.

Is there WiFi in the domes?

Yes, complimentary WiFi is available across the resort including the domes. Signal strength is good for video calls and standard streaming, though please note that connectivity can vary with mountain weather.

What is the difference between Glamping and your Camping Experiences?

Glamping (our dome resort) is our permanent property — 15 fixed domes across two locations, Riverfront at Kepdinkha and Hilltop Deluxe at Zachakha, that you can book directly. Camping Experiences are a separate, temporary offering: curated tent setups in wild locations across Bhutan, arranged individually based on your preferences. They use different tents, different setups, and a different booking process. Please make sure you enquire for the right product.

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

Meal plans vary: we offer EP (room only), CP (room + breakfast), and MAP (room + breakfast + dinner). Your meal plan will be confirmed at the time of booking. We recommend at least CP to enjoy a leisurely highland breakfast before starting your day.

Yes. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and most other dietary needs. Please inform us of any requirements at the time of booking so our kitchen team can prepare accordingly.

What is the Hot Stone Bath experience?

The Herbal Bhutanese Hot Stone Bath is a deeply restorative traditional experience. River stones are heated and placed in water infused with local herbs used in Bhutanese medicine. It is enjoyed outdoors and is one of our most popular wellness experiences.

Do I need to book wellness or activity experiences in advance?

We recommend booking any spa treatments or guided experiences in advance, especially during peak season. You can let us know your preferences at the time of booking or contact us closer to your arrival date.

Do I need a visa to visit Bhutan?

Accepted Answer

All international visitors except Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals require a Bhutan tourist visa, arranged in advance through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. Indian nationals do not need a visa — you travel on an entry permit instead, using an Indian passport valid for at least six months or a Voter ID card. The permit can be applied for online in advance or obtained on arrival at Paro airport or the Phuentsholing border. A permit is not the same as an exemption from fees: the Sustainable Development Fee still applies, at the concessional Indian rate. We can connect you with a licensed operator who will manage visa and permit requirements.

What is the Bhutan Sustainable Development Fee (SDF)?

Bhutan charges every visitor a daily Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), which funds the country's free education, healthcare, and conservation programmes. Most international tourists pay USD 100 per person per night. Indian nationals pay a concessional rate of INR 1,200 per person per night, with INR 600 for children aged 6–12 and no charge for children under 6. The SDF is a Bhutanese government fee paid when your permit or visa is issued, and it is separate from your room rate. Please confirm with your tour operator whether it is included in your itinerary quote, or ask us and we will set out the exact amount for your party.

When is the best time to visit Paro and Highland Glamping?

Bhutan is beautiful year-round, but the most popular and pleasant periods are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). The Paro Tsechu festival (usually March/April) is a spectacular cultural event. Monsoon season (June–August) sees heavy rain but lush landscapes. Winter (December–February) is cold but clear and quiet.

Can I travel to Bhutan independently?

No. All international tourists must travel through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. Individual travel is not permitted. We work with trusted operators and can refer you to one if needed — just reach out via our contact page.
